Position Overview 
As a Cost Engineer, you will lead the development of accurate, fact‑based should‑cost models and provide actionable insights that improve cost competitiveness across products and suppliers.
You will play a critical role in:
  • Analyzing manufacturing and component costs
  • Supporting supplier negotiations and sourcing strategies
  • Identifying cost‑reduction and process‑improvement opportunities
  • Driving cost transparency across the product lifecycle

Key Responsibilities 
Cost Modeling & Manufacturing Analysis
  • Build, maintain, and refine should‑cost models for components and assemblies across:
    • Machining
    • Stamping
    • Forging
    • Casting
    • Molding
    • Assembly
  • Analyze product and production costs to identify key cost drivers and risks
  • Evaluate cost impacts from:
    • Engineering changes (ECNs)
    • New product introductions (NPI)
    • Supplier or process changes
  • Benchmark supplier quotes against internal models, market data, and commodity trends
Cost Reduction & Strategic Support
  • Identify and quantify cost‑savings opportunities (dual sourcing, negotiations, material changes, process improvements)
  • Partner with Sourcing on A / AAA item strategies, dual sourcing, and vendor consolidation
  • Perform SKU, volume, and brand analysis to support rationalization efforts
  • Provide data‑backed recommendations to support negotiations and sourcing decisions
Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and variance analyses
  • Track actual vs. standard costs across suppliers and product lines
  • Investigate material, labor, and overhead variances and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate cost databases and ensure data consistency across systems
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Systems
  • Act as a trusted cost advisor to Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sourcing
  • Validate supplier cost breakdowns and manufacturing assumptions
  • Support evaluation and adoption of enhanced costing tools and systems
 
Ideal Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • 5–7 years of experience in cost analysis, cost engineering, or manufacturing finance within automotive or industrial environments
  • Hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, routings, and process flows
  • Advanced Excel skills for complex cost models, scenario analysis, and dashboards
  • ERP experience (SAP or similar preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
  • Comfortable influencing cross‑functional stakeholders without direct authority
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and effective in fast‑paced environments
 
Physical Demands & Working Conditions 
  • Position follows a hybrid work requirement, consisting of four (4) days onsite and one (1) day remote weekly.
  • Primarily office-based with standard working hours; may require additional hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent matters. 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously. 
  • Minimal physical demands, primarily involving sitting, using a computer, and other office-related activities
