Junior Systems Administrator - SkillBridge Intern The Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program provides transitioning Service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry-specific training, apprenticeships, and internships during their final 180 days of active duty. Eligible participants may be granted permissive duty to train full-time with approved SkillBridge partners while preparing for their transition into the civilian workforce. TQI Solutions is proud to support the SkillBridge Program and is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator SkillBridge Intern to join our team at our headquarters in Chesapeake, VA. This is an unpaid SkillBridge training opportunity. TQI Solutions does not provide wages or compensation for participation in this program. Eligible Service members continue to receive their military pay and benefits from their respective military service in accordance with applicable SkillBridge requirements. This opportunity provides hands-on experience supporting TQI's internal Information Technology environment while developing valuable skills in systems administration, cybersecurity, technical support, and IT operations within a government contracting organization. Responsibilities * Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and network systems
* Monitor system performance and assist with identifying and resolving technical issues
* Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and system configurations
* Support Microsoft 365 applications, services, and other business technology platforms
* Assist with implementing and maintaining cybersecurity and network security measures to protect systems and information
* Perform routine system updates, maintenance, backups, and data protection activities
* Assist with disaster recovery, system availability, and business continuity processes
* Document system configurations, changes, troubleshooting procedures, and IT processes
* Assist with developing scripts, tools, or automated processes to improve system efficiency
* Provide technical support to TQI employees, including troubleshooting hardware, software, account, and connectivity issues
* Assist with onboarding and offboarding technology requirements, including account setup, equipment preparation, and access management
* Gain exposure to IT security, compliance, and technology requirements associated with supporting a Department of War contracting environment
* Support additional IT projects and initiatives based on organizational needs Qualifications * Transitioning Service member who meets SkillBridge eligibility requirements and receives appropriate command approval
* Experience or training in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred
* Knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking concepts, and basic cybersecurity practices
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and cloud-based services is a plus
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to assist non-technical users
* Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
* Eagerness to learn new technologies, systems, and IT best practices
* Current Security+ certification or ability to obtain Security+ or an equivalent certification
