Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:

On a medium sized job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section

Leadership/Supervision

  • Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
  • Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.

Work Planning & Packaging

  • Coordinates with design on constructability issues.

Material Management

  • Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.

Quantities

  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.

Safety / Quality Control

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire:

  • Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

Reviews and approves inspection test plans

Supervises reviews of subcontractor submittals

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in semiconductor, EV battery, or data centers preferred.
  • Hands-on implementation of AWP and OSM strategies; experience with project setup, system turnover, and completion preferred.
  • Proficiency with digital execution tools, 4D/5D planning, and analytics preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Owns technical execution for piping—expert knowledge of UG/AG piping systems, isometrics, specs, codes, stress/support concepts, testing, and reinstatement; ensures work is buildable and compliant.
  • Leads piping field engineering team—assigns scope, sets priorities, reviews work products, and coaches field engineers to consistent standards and pace.
  • Drives piping readiness and AWP—ensures isos, materials, supports, test packages, and access are ready to support IWPs and superintendent work plans.
  • Controls quantities, progress, and quality—validates installed quantities, supports progress measurement, prevents rework, and drives resolution of technical issues.
  • Primary technical interface for piping—coordinates with engineering, procurement, QC, construction, and commissioning; escalates systemic issues early and clearly.
