Job description

The Systems and Compliance Test Engineer II works with the Engineer IV, Systems Testing and Compliance to assess, monitor, and develop action plans for code and regulatory changes in close partnership with the Legal and Product Management teams. The position assists in maintaining databases of compliance, researching, identifying, and communicating opportunities and threats cross-functionally to assure the best outcome of regulatory action. In addition, the individual works with the Engineer IV, Systems Testing and Compliance to develop and execute roofing system test plans at third-party labs to meet Sales and Product Management needs for Florida Building Code, ICC-ES, TDI, and Miami-Dade County.
Essential Duties
  • 50% Project and Data Management
    • Works with Product Management and Legal to track EPDs and PCR development and identifies opportunities and threats to our product line. Monitors requirements for Extended Producer Responsibilities (EPR) and communicates key deadlines and reporting requirements across different states.
    • Partners with Legal and Product Management to track regulatory actions, risks and opportunities (e.g. VOC and chemical regulations)
    • Researches, identifies and communicates regulatory approval requirements, including key building code proposals (ICC/IBC/IRC, Miami-Dade, FM, UL, ASTM). Draws conclusions, and provides actionable information to cross functional teams.
    • Prepares reader-friendly and intelligible product and system building code compliance documents for GAF products and systems.
  • 50% System Testing
    • Works with Certifications team to coordinate and supply system test data/reports required for timely code approval submittals to ICC-ES, Miami-Dade County, Florida Building Code and UL's ER team that meet business needs and priorities. Co-owns external agency deadlines with Certifications team including the avoidance of any lapse in regulatory approval coverage which would jeopardize sales opportunities.
    • Coordinate product and system testing in assigned projects at third party testing labs to support (a) development of project scopes and associated alignment across Sales and Product Management (b) material ordering, (c) test deck construction, (d) test witnessing and (e) documentation and communication of test results.
    • Work under the guidance of Engineer IV, Systems Testing and Compliance to identify project risks and implement mitigating strategies.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Applied or Physical Science, or related degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience OR
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 15+ years related experience.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.
Base Salary Range: $72,000-$99,000
