Job description

Information System Project Architect Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is looking for an Information System Project Architect to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center in Suffolk, VA. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT) and leading the design and development of technology-based solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role is 100% onsite. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:  · Solution and System Design: Take charge in leading the practice of designing, describing, documenting and managing the engineering of technology to solve specific business problems.  · Technical Vision and Strategy: Develop the overall technical strategy for solving complex challenges, which involves a deep analysis of the customer’s existing tech environment and mission objectives. · Stakeholder Communication: The System Project Architect acts as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring all parties are informed and their requirements are met.  · Technology and Project Constraints: This role involves selecting the appropriate technology stack for a project while also accounting for project constraints such as scope, cost, and time.  · Project and Team Management: Develop detailed project plans and are responsible for managing the project's budget, schedule, and resources. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the cross-functional teams throughout the project.  · Risk Management and Compliance: Identifying and mitigating potential project risks is a critical part of the job. Ensure developed solutions comply with non-functional requirements such as security, scalability, and performance.  · Analysis and Documentation: Analyze customer needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of a product design. The candidate will also be responsible for documenting and sharing best practices and knowledge for new solutions.  Why Work For ISS? Clearance Level TS (with SCI eligibility)  Certifications (IAT Level II) One of the following: · CySA+  · Security+  · CCNA – Security · GICSP  · GSEC  · SSCP And · Functional area certification (required prior to start date) Required Skills · Education: A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA in information systems or a master's degree can be advantageous. · Experience Preferred: 5 yrs experience with master’s degree or 10 yrs with bachelor’s degree, in data design, in consulting or internal role, defining IT strategy and architecture while developing and mentoring staff at all levels to build and deliver high quality and highly innovative simulation services. · At least 5 years of experience related to DoD major systems or programs. Technical Skills · System and Software Architecture: Proficient in high-level and low-level system design, software architecture patterns, and both monolithic and distributed architectures.  · Cloud Computing: In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.  · Programming and Databases: Familiarity with various programming languages, frameworks, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.  · APIs and DevOps: Understanding of API design, DevOps principles, and automation tools.  · Security and Networking: Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, network protocols, and security best practices.  Project Management Skills · Planning and Organization: Ability to develop comprehensive project plans and manage resources effectively.  · Budget and Risk Management: Skills in creating and managing budgets and identifying and mitigating project risks.  · Methodologies: Familiarity with both traditional (e.g., Waterfall) and agile (e.g., Scrum, XP) project management methodologies.  Soft Skills · Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. · Analytical and Problem-Solving: Deep analytical skills to understand business needs and solve complex technical challenges.  · Leadership and Teamwork: The ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with diverse project teams.  · Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business goals and the ability to align technical solutions with those objectives.
