Job description

The Global Services team at National Instruments (an Emerson company) is looking for a talented Implementation Engineering Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced startup business area within a well-established leader in Test Automation systems.

You will join a highly experienced, growing team and manage the definition, development, and delivery of custom integrated test systems for some of Emerson/NI's largest customers.

You will also help the team evolve and expand by creating and refining tools and processes and influencing specialization areas. 

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE: 

  • Responsible for successful delivery of systems integration projects
  • Act as primary contact for the customer throughout the project; negotiate scope/schedule changes
  • Identify and document customer requirements as needed; work with project team to identify solution and estimate solution cost and timeline
  • Collaborate with resource manager to ensure appropriate staffing on projects
  • Influence and make decisions about scope, schedule, and resources for project
  • Monitor and report out to stakeholders on project costs, status, quality; escalate issues when necessary
  • Drive process and tool improvement efforts; help define and structure specialization areas for the team

WHO YOU ARE: You introduce new ways of looking at problems. You partner with others to get work done. 

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • 5 years experience working on systems integration projects for test, measurement, or automation 
  • Experience as project manager of large enterprise engineering projects
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to ~25% 
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
    • Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART: 

  • Master's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline
  • Experience communicating with various stakeholders and clients from sole contributor to Executive across multiple disciplines - Engineering, Sales, Clients
  • PMP or other Project Management certification is a plus
  • Previous exposure to National Instruments hardware and software, first-hand experience using them preferred
  • Strong technical and executive communication skills
  • Strong understanding of business concepts such as pricing, margins, terms and conditions preferred
