Job description

Overview Our client, a leading aerospace and defense technology organization, is seeking a Transient Performance Senior Engineer to join their Military Propulsion Engineering team. This role supports next-generation military engine development programs as well as fielded propulsion systems, with a focus on engine transient performance, operability, testing, and validation. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader, leveraging expertise in transient modeling, engine performance analysis, and testing to support complex propulsion programs. This individual will also mentor engineers, contribute to strategic engineering initiatives, and help advance best practices across the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze transient engine characteristics and performance using engine cycle models and simulation tools.
- Develop, execute, and validate transient performance analyses supporting military propulsion programs.
- Conduct and support rig testing, ground testing, and flight engine evaluations.
- Correlate transient engine model predictions with test results and operational data.
- Lead transient validation reviews and technical assessments.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance for engineering teams across multiple programs.
- Support performance improvement, cost reduction, quality initiatives, and new technology integration efforts.
- Leverage engineering expertise to resolve complex technical issues encountered during development, - testing, manufacturing, or field operations.
- Monitor project status and communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to program stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Participate as a technical reviewer and presenter during program reviews, design reviews, and customer discussions.
- Assist with the development of engineering processes, training materials, and mentoring initiatives.
- Contribute to long-term engineering strategy and technology roadmaps. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
- Advanced degree in Engineering OR a minimum of 3 years of gas turbine engineering experience.
- Active Secret Clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering organizations. Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Transient Analysis, Engine Performance, Operability, and Systems Engineering.
- 8+ years of aerospace or mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience monitoring and evaluating engine test activities.
- Experience performing transient data reduction and analysis.
- Strong background in aircraft engine system design and integration.
- Experience with aerodynamic compression systems including: Fans, Boosters, and Compressors.
- Experience with gas turbine engine performance cycle design and analysis.
- Experience with NPSS, Python, or similar engineering modeling and analysis tools.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
- Ability to influence technical direction and drive engineering improvements.
- Strong process-oriented approach to engineering and program execution.
