Position Summary
The Systems and Identity Services Engineer provides security and identity services related to access, onboarding, and offboarding. S/he will coordinate, plan, and conduct server maintenance, and collaborate with other IT staff and vendors to ensure the security and availability of assigned systems.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Process and track requests for security access and roles within Colleague and related applications; create position security classes and add/modify/remove security access per user requests or job changes
  • Develop, maintain, and schedule reports within Colleague and other systems, as needed
  • Lead annual user access reviews for designated systems, managing the end-to-end remediation lifecycle for any identified security gaps
  • Use existing tools to identify server vulnerabilities/pending updates and apply patches on a scheduled or emergency basis
  • Support scheduled maintenance windows and emergency incident response, which may include off-hours or weekend work as required
  • Help manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) workflows, analyzing and resolving access issues while identifying trends to improve data security across the College's core systems.
  • Help maintain inventories of all server hardware and application software versions across the environment
  • Maintain and update firmware on devices such as physical servers, blade servers/chassis, network switches, access points and UPS/PDU equipment
  • Coordinate patch management and lifecycle updates, working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure system currency and security.
  • Provide backup services related to identity management solutions, including Microsoft Identity Manager, Azure Active Directory, and other systems
  • Manage and Configure VMware Virtual Server Environment
  • Manage user accounts and profiles in Azure, Active Directory, and other systems including verifying identity and following fraudulent account procedures
  • Manage departmental mapped drive access and proactively assist departments to move to OneDrive/Teams
  • Periodically review security group membership, and recommend changes and improvements
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation related to all processes inherent in this role
  • Assist with any security-related tasks, including virus outbreak containment, quarantine, and removal, as assigned
  • Collaborate with others in a professional manner to accomplish functions and responsibilities
  • Additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience with VMware
  • 5+ years of work experience in the Information Technology field
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Information Systems or related discipline required
  • Experience working with patch management software
  • Two years' experience with the following:
  1. Ellucian Colleague position classes and security requirements
  2. Security rights provisioning, knowledge of zero-trust security principles
  3. Working within a medium to large-sized network environment
Skills and Specifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn technological applications
  • Basic SQL, PowerShell, and Programming knowledge
