Job description

Dataiku is seeking a talented and motivated Sr. Manager, People Systems to lead our People Systems team. Reporting to the VP of Business Applications, in this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining our primary people systems (Workday, Greenhouse, and ancillary systems within People Systems landscape); working with the People Team to plan and execute our HRIS strategy; as well as supporting the organization with systems-related inquiries and enhancements. This role works very closely with all levels of the company, including the leadership team, and must have prior Workday HCM configuration experience and deep Workday architecture familiarity.

This role is 100% remote with the option to work at any of our local offices.

What you'll do:

  • Participate in People Team Leadership meetings (and others as needed) to ensure clear communication relative to project timelines, deliverables and cross-functional dependenciesย 
  • Provide technical and functional leadership for the exploration, evaluation, recommendation, design, and configuration of new features and functionalities within Workday, and other ancillary systems
  • Collaborate with leaders from the People Team, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to gather system requirements and translate them into effective Workday solutions
  • Configure, test, validate, and implement changes in Workday, ensuring the overall integrity of the Workday platform and that all components of the technical architecture are properly integrated and maintained
  • Create and maintain the documentation of systems related procedures and processes; develop user guides as needed
  • Manage and develop a team of analysts, setting objectives that align with team and company strategy
  • Implement HRIS best practices and identify automation opportunities within key business processes
  • Implement and adhere to public company ready ITGC's as well as best practice business process controls within the People Systems landscape

Who you are:

  • 6+ years of configuration experience with Workday HCM including business process framework, security, and general system administration
  • 3+ years leading an HRIS team
  • Expertise in at least three additional Workday functional areas (Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Talent & Performance, Time Tracking, Payroll etc)
  • Possess a mastery of report writing, calculated fields, and EIBs
  • Able to manage competing priorities, solve problems quickly, and work independently
  • Excellent Communication Skills:ย  Ability to concisely explain complex cross-functional processes. Ability to create clear/simple documentation - process guides & diagrams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and drive system implementation and enhancement projects
  • Ability to evaluate new vendors/products that can bring meaningful ROI on behalf of the organization (particularly related to GenAI)
  • Preference given to candidates based within the EST timezone, but open to the CST timezone for the right candidate

Nice-to-haves:

  • Workday consulting experience a strong plus
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting Workday integrations (XLSTs, Core Connectors, Studio, RaaS, etc)
  • Experience with maintaining/updating payroll/equity integrations (e.g. ADP/Deel, and Shareworks)
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS
  • Experience working in a global public organization
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance / ITGC's
  • Interest and/or experience with data visualization, GenAI, and iPass solutions are a plus
  • Ability to architect multi-step AI workflows that automate Workday and HR processes end-to-end (e.g., onboarding orchestration, policy Q&A, document generation
  • Ability to build or govern Claude, Gemini, Workato, GPT-based plugins, or similar tools embedded in HRIS workflows
  • Data privacy guardrails, bias risk in AI-assisted decisions (compensation, performance), auditability of AI outputs in a SOX-adjacent and Global compliance environment
