About the Opportunity

Our Ellucian Managed Services team is seeking to hire a Manager, Systems Administration, to work onsite at University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne Indiana. University of Saint Francis is a Catholic institution focused on Liberal Arts and Health Science, culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. Our Information Technology Department, led by Ellucian, is committed to providing a safe, secure, equitable, and engaging experience for all college faculty, staff, and students. The Manager, Systems Administration, leads a small team of server and user services delivering enterprise data center support and services. Providing desktop Support, and Classroom/AV support staff. Performs other job-related duties as required and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Where You Will Make an Impact

  • Provide first line management and hands-on technical coordination of on-site technology staff, plus several student workers in a higher education environment.
  • Lead the administration and optimization of enterprise infrastructure, including Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint), Active Directory (on-premises and hybrid), Azure AD / Entra ID, and Telecommunications
  • Ensure the stable operation of enterprise connectivity for the college. This includes, but not limited to planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network hardware and connections, wired and wireless, server and storage, associated software, and communication links.
  • Oversee network administration, ensuring secure, reliability, and high-performing connectivity across campus and cloud environments (LAN/WAN, wireless, firewalls, VPN).
  • Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance controls, including MFA, conditional access, and endpoint security.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security posture; proactively identify risks and implement remediation strategies.
  • Works with CIO and college leadership to provide project guidance, cost metrics, return on investment insights, and operational recommendations
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network, and identity issues; provide timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring alignment with best practices and service excellence.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience showing advancement, which includes management and/or leadership within IT Service Management, with the most recent 3 years in a Senior Technical role; or equivalent combination of education and experience planning, leading, and executing IT initiatives in higher education or other enterprise level environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • 5 years experience implementing and maintaining security frameworks, governance, and compliance standards.
  • 5 years strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage infrastructure projects and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • 5 years experience working in complex, hybrid IT environments with cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Current experience with enterprise-level server and network support products and management of a large 3,000+ node network
  • Experience with managing Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, DNS, SCCM, Defender, and Office 365.
  • Formal ITIL or other standards-based training and/or certification (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or security certifications such as CISSP, Azure Security Engineer).
  • Experience with complex Network administration (switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, VPN)
  • Experience with running PowerShell scripting and automation
