Job Description

The Device Integration Software System Architect defines and guides the strategy, architecture, and user experience integrating Rockwell Automation intelligent devices within the Connected Enterprise ecosystem. You will establish device management standards, aligns technology roadmaps, and ensure customers can easily configure intelligent devices across automation systems. This role is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager of ITD Digital System Architecture and User Experience.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Define device data management standards and integration methodologies.
  • Develop capability models and architecture frameworks for device integration.
  • Simplify and improve the user experience for device configuration and management.
  • Co-lead the Device Management Architecture roadmap with Software & Control.
  • Lead device integration strategy across teams.
  • Provide technical leadership for intelligent device, control system, and software architectures.
  • Guide simplification programs that improve product usability and customer outcomes.
  • Support product development through requirements review, architecture definition, and high-level design.
  • Collaborate with architects and subject matter experts to create solutions.
  • Define requirements for device profiles and application software that improve device access and management.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Inspire, guide, and assist in developing product teams.
  • Adapt and guide issues to resolution with urgency and accountability.
  • Build partnerships across departments and organizations.

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Master's degree or equivalent advanced education.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation development, integration, or customer-facing applications.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience in large-scale software and firmware development organizations.
  • Understanding of customer applications, system environments, and product usage.
  • Knowledge of technologies and trends in industrial automation.
  • Guide innovation and product differentiation.
  • Experience developing and evaluating proof-of-concept solutions.
  • Experience with manufacturing and industrial systems, including MES, CMMS, PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, ERP, and Asset Management platforms.
  • Experience with device commissioning, maintenance, and industrial operations.
  • Knowledge of Level 0/1 devices, sensors, PLC architectures, and industrial data models.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design and multiple programming languages commonly used in industrial automation.
