Job description

We are a technical services contractor specializing in low voltage infrastructure, security integration, and access control systems across commercial, healthcare, and education environments. Our crews are known for clean installs and professional customer interactions. As we scale field operations under a new Technical Operations Manager, we are bringing on experienced security leads who can run a job site and communicate at every level.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Lead Security Technician to oversee field installation of access control, camera systems, and related low voltage security infrastructure. This is a hands-on lead role with direct responsibility for guiding junior technicians, supporting subcontractors, and delivering systems that work correctly from day one. You will be expected to read the plans, explain the system to the customer, and hold your crew to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide formal leadership and daily guidance to junior technicians as directed by the Technical Operations Manager
  • Support field teams and coordinate work alongside subcontractors
  • Install access control systems, security cameras, CCTV, paging devices, talk-down speakers, and motion sensors
  • Install and troubleshoot card readers and door hardware including wired magnetic locks to ensure proper access functionality throughout the building
  • Troubleshoot existing low voltage wiring including Cat6 to cameras and 18/4 to door hardware and access control panels per design drawings
  • Communicate security and access control plans clearly to both customers and junior installers
  • Run and dress structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) per job specifications
  • Terminate RJ45s at patch panels using punch-down tools
  • Perform copper testing and maintain accurate documentation
  • Splice fiber, including mechanical splicing
  • Build out ladder racks, IDFs, and MDFs
  • Label, trace, and verify cable connectivity using tone and volt meters
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and scope documents
  • Work safely on ladders and lifts in active environments including schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings
  • Communicate clearly, represent the company professionally, and operate without the need for micromanagement
  • Set the tone for your crew through accountability and craftsmanship

Required Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting access control, CCTV, and security camera systems
  • Familiarity with card readers, magnetic locks, motion sensors, and paging or talk-down speaker systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot low voltage wiring including Cat6 camera runs and 18/4 door hardware wiring
  • Experience with copper and fiber installs, splicing, closet builds, and IDF/MDF buildouts
  • Ability to read security and access control drawings and communicate system design to customers and field crews
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable working at heights and lifting or moving equipment; ability to become lift certified when required
  • Supervisor references required

Benefits and Compensation

  • Pay range: $30 - $42/hr depending on experience and tenure
  • After the contract period: health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Short-term disability, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible paid time off (PTO)

Why Work With Us

You will work alongside a team that values skill over shortcuts. With a new Technical Operations Manager in place, this is the right time to join, put your name on quality work, and build something with a company that is growing. We treat our leads like professionals and expect the same in return.
