What is system dynamics?

A System Dynamics job involves using modeling and simulation techniques to analyze complex systems and predict how they evolve over time. Professionals in this field apply feedback loops, stock-and-flow structures, and computational tools to address challenges in business, policy, healthcare, engineering, and environmental systems. These roles are often found in consulting, research, government, and corporate strategy, where decision-makers rely on dynamic models for long-term planning and optimization. Strong skills in mathematics, systems thinking, programming, and data analysis are essential for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in system dynamics?

To thrive in System Dynamics, you need a strong background in systems thinking, mathematical modeling, and analytical problem-solving, often supported by a degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Proficiency in simulation software such as Vensim or Stella, and familiarity with data analysis tools like MATLAB or R, are typically required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to translate complex models into actionable insights are crucial soft skills. These abilities enable professionals to design, analyze, and optimize dynamic systems effectively across sectors like business, engineering, or environmental management.

Job description

Enterprise Business Systems Analyst
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Environment: Hybrid/Remote
Reports To: Director of Enterprise Applications
Location: This role operates in a hybrid/remote capacity with periodic on-site engagement as business needs require. Preference will be given to candidates located within reasonable proximity to one of our key operating sites, including Southern California, Elgin, IL; Hanover, PA; or Orange, NJ, to support in-person collaboration, site engagement, and leadership alignment.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Enterprise Business Systems Analyst to play a key role in modernizing our organization’s business systems, improving operational efficiency, and building a scalable technology foundation to support future growth.
The Enterprise Business Systems Analyst is a highly visible, enterprise-level role responsible for partnering with business leaders across multiple operating companies to improve business processes, optimize enterprise applications, and support strategic ERP initiatives.
Rather than supporting a single department or business unit, you'll work across finance, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, customer service, engineering, and executive leadership to understand how our businesses operate, identify opportunities for improvement, and help deliver technology solutions that create measurable business value.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business challenges, driving process improvements, and helping shape the future of a growing multi-company organization.
What You’ll Do
  • Partner with business leaders across multiple operating companies to understand operational and business process needs.
  • Support ERP implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Analyze business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting, data quality, and system utilization.
  • Gather and document business requirements while helping translate operational needs into technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with accounting, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, customer service, and engineering teams to improve enterprise processes.
  • Support enterprise application initiatives involving ERP, CRM, reporting platforms, maintenance systems, and other business technologies.
  • Coordinate testing, user acceptance, training, and deployment activities for enterprise projects.
  • Investigate and help resolve complex business systems issues affecting day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with software vendors and implementation consultants while helping expand internal organizational capabilities.
  • Develop documentation, workflows, process maps, and operating procedures that support sustainable business practices.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help drive enterprise-wide process modernization initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five (5) or more years of experience supporting ERP systems, business applications, business systems analysis, or enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional business processes within manufacturing, operations, finance, supply chain, or similar environments.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in ERP implementations, upgrades, or major business systems projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Dynamics CE, Power BI, Power Platform, or comparable ERP ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-company organizations.
  • Manufacturing or industrial business experience.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments, including aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with business process improvement methodologies and enterprise application governance.
Work Environment
This role supports multiple business units and locations and may require occasional travel to company sites, including Apple Valley, Ontario, Orange, Addison, Hanover, Elgin, and Orange, New Jersey. Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular collaboration across finance, operations, and executive leadership teams.
Compensation and Benefits
Polymer Concepts Technologies PBY, Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support employee well-being and career growth. Benefits include:
  • Competitive base salary and leadership incentive opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company contribution
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
Regulatory Requirements
This position may involve access to export-controlled information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and meet applicable export control requirements.
Why Join Polymer Concepts Technologies PBY, Inc.?
Polymer Concepts Technologies PBY, Inc. is a leader in advanced elastomeric sealing technologies supporting critical aerospace and defense applications. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical innovation, build engineering capability, and contribute to the development of high-performance aerospace solutions.
