Job description

Responsibilities/Duties

  • This position provides troubleshooting assistance and problem resolution for computer systems in a variety of environments.
  • Such assistance and resolution are provided for personal computers, servers, and Local Area Networks (LANs).
  • The SSS provides support to distributed PC/networking environments, including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals.
  • The SSS performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages.
  • Job duties require the SSS to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating systems, and other application software programs.
  • In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.
  • The SSS will also provide help desk functions via email, phone, or in person.
Qualifications
  • Experience providing direct end-user support for the applications being supported, including both telephone support and on-site assistance to users.
  • Certain applications may require certification by the software provider.
  • Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications, preferably database, imaging, or other automated litigation support applications, is strongly preferred.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with the network, telecommunications, and operating systems environment of the applications being supported.
  • Prior experience in automated litigation support preferred.
  • Experience with DOJ office automation environments is extremely helpful; should be an expert user of the governmentโ€™s word processing, spreadsheet, and email systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Pleasant telephone manners are important.
  • Undergraduate degree valued.
