Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Consumer Technology, supporting the Enterprise Data and Platforms organization. This group enables critical business capabilities across core banking, enterprise services, and data-driven platforms by delivering scalable technology solutions, modernizing legacy systems, and supporting data strategy, governance, and analytics across the enterprise.

In this role, you will support enterprise mainframe systems and core business platforms by assisting in system analysis, testing, and operational support activities. You will work in a collaborative agile environment alongside development teams, architecture, change management, and cross-functional partners to help deliver reliable, secure, and compliant technology solutions.

This position is ideal for early-career professionals interested in developing hands-on experience in system operations, data platforms, and application lifecycle support within a large-scale, highly regulated environment. You will gain exposure to mainframe systems, enterprise data platforms, and modern tools such as Python to support analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

CODE provides:

  • Immersive onboarding and foundational technical training

  • A supportive cohort experience of peers starting their tech careers

  • Dedicated mentors and program managers who guide your development

  • Professional development, career coaching, and workshops

Wells Fargo only considers candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who do not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

In this role, you will:

  • Support analysis of business and system requirements by reviewing features, user stories, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with business needs

  • Assist in creating and refining functional and non-functional requirements for system enhancements and defect resolution

  • Participate in system and integration testing activities, including test case creation, execution, and validation of results across environments

  • Coordinate testing efforts with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, and user acceptance testing (UAT) partners

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and triage system issues, working with production support teams to identify root causes and support resolution efforts

  • Support release management activities by assisting with change documentation, validation, and deployment readiness tasks

  • Analyze system data and logs using tools such as Python to identify trends, support issue resolution, and improve operational efficiency

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with risk and control requirements, including documenting processes and supporting audit readiness

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across technology and business teams to support communication, tracking, and delivery of system updates

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, testing workflows, and system support activities through automation and continuous improvement practices

  • Support daily operational activities related to mainframe systems, including exposure to Hogan applications and related processes

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Exposure to mainframe systems, including coursework, projects, or hands-on experience; familiarity with Hogan applications or COBOL is a strong plus

  • Experience using Python for data analysis, scripting, or automation, including academic or project-based work (e.g., analyzing logs, processing data, or supporting testing)

  • Hands-on experience supporting testing activities, including writing test cases, executing tests, or validating results in academic, internship, or project environments

  • Familiarity with Agile practices, including participating in ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, or retrospectives, and using tools such as Jira

  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements, including translating business needs into functional requirements or user stories

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and identify patterns, including use of tools, logs, or datasets to support problem resolution

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, including completing assignments or project deliverables in a structured environment

  • Exposure to risk, controls, or compliance concepts, including documenting processes or supporting governance activities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.

  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.

  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field preferred but not required.

Job Expectations:

  • The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by July 12, 2026, in a fulltime capacity.

  • This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular inoffice attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.
