Job description
Are you someone who enjoys digging into the details, understanding how and why things work, identifying potential risks, and finding better ways to do things? Your experience doesn’t have to come from gaming to make an impact here. We’re looking for a leader with experience in areas such as compliance, auditing, internal controls, risk management, finance, regulatory operations, investigations, or another highly regulated environment. If you know how to interpret regulations, strengthen processes, solve problems, and help teams stay accountable, those skills can transfer well into the gaming industry.
As our Compliance Manager, you’ll help champion integrity, accountability, and responsible operations across our properties while developing your knowledge of gaming-specific regulations and requirements.
The Compliance Manager ensures compliance with all State, NIGC MICS and Compact gaming regulations, operations systems of internal controls and other regulatory requirements; assist Departments in development of Policy & Procedures, develop and conduct Title 31 training; establish risk assessment and oversee safety initiatives for Resort properties. Oversees the Count Team and Reception Staff, performs administrative functions for the Company.
*Native American hiring preference for qualified candidates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, standards, and regulatory requirements affecting Casino and Resort operations, including NIGC Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), Washington State Gambling Commission requirements, the Tribal-State Compact, MOUs, appendices, Tribal Ordinances, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the organization’s Title 31 Compliance Officer and oversee compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR), and related requirements, including the development and delivery of required training.
- Provide compliance guidance and support to departments and leadership, helping translate regulatory requirements into practical policies, procedures, and operational practices.
- Review internal controls, business processes, and operational practices to identify potential compliance, financial, or operational risks and recommend improvements.
- Partner with department leaders to develop, review, and update policies and procedures to ensure alignment with internal controls, regulatory requirements, Tribal requirements, and organizational standards.
- Monitor and review financial and operational activity for unusual trends, significant variances, control weaknesses, or potential policy violations and coordinate appropriate follow-up or investigation.
- Identify potential weaknesses in internal controls and provide leadership with recommendations for corrective action, risk mitigation, and process improvement.
- Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, reports, audits, checklists, and other requests from State and Tribal Gaming Agencies and other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Participate in the preparation, coordination, and oversight of regulatory and operational audits, including State and Tribal gaming audits.
- Develop and maintain compliance documentation, records, reports, and other materials necessary to demonstrate regulatory and organizational compliance.
- Establish and support risk assessment processes to identify potential operational, financial, regulatory, and safety risks across Resort properties.
- Oversee and administer the Resort’s non-health-related insurance programs, including renewals, incident reporting, claims-related documentation, and cost/performance reporting.
- Review and maintain applicable contract, business, insurance, and property records in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the Soft Count Team and related activities, ensuring appropriate controls, procedures, segregation of duties, and gaming regulatory requirements are followed.
- Provide leadership and oversight to Reception staff and assigned administrative functions.
- Manage the Administration Department budget and support annual budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Perform and/or oversee authorized financial transactions, including wire transfers and ACH payments, in accordance with established internal controls and authorization requirements.
- Support organizational safety and risk-reduction efforts, including participation on the Safety Board and coordination with the Safety Committee and other departments.
- Lead, coach, and develop assigned team members, including setting performance expectations, providing feedback, and completing performance evaluations.
- Build collaborative relationships with department leaders, team members, auditors, and regulators to promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Review and analyze data, reports, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, trends, and potential areas of risk.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive regulatory, financial, personnel, and operational information.
- Stay current on changes in applicable regulations and industry practices and communicate relevant changes to leadership and affected departments.
- Complete required meetings, training, and regulatory briefings and ensure assigned responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and guest-focused work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Public Administration, or a related field, plus one year of relevant experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum five years of experience in compliance, auditing, internal controls, risk management, regulatory compliance, financial controls, investigations, or a related field.
- Gaming, casino, or gaming revenue audit experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Title 31/BSA, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), financial controls, regulatory compliance, internal controls, investigations, or similar regulatory frameworks preferred.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with guests, team members, management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply gaming-specific regulations, requirements, policies, and internal controls.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive compliance and investigative matters professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize compliance, audit, and other business software systems.
