Location: New York NY

Job description

Provide All Fusion 2E programming and support for IBM iServer application systems development and maintenance projects, with a commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction.
Design, implement and maintain application systems.
Provide a general knowledge of the user function and work with the users and more experienced I/S personnel to develop systems solutions for complex business problems.
Duties include project leadership on a limited basis, technical design, programming and unit testing.

Environment:
IBM iServer (v5r4) running core business applications connected to a website (L.A.M.P) serving as an additional user front-end for some of the core business applications.
Microsoft Office Excel and Access are used occasionally to create stand alone solutions to small business problems.

Primary Functions:

Under general direction, the Programmer/Analyst is responsible for the following:

• Perform all activities and responsibilities with an emphasis on quality, focused on the internal or external customer needs, and completing assignments in a timely manner according to the agreed upon schedule.
• Provide a general functional knowledge, working systems design knowledge, and project leadership for small application systems projects.
• Play a team role in systems design decisions relative to functionality, architecture and databases for complex information systems.
• Provide a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of systems development, including database and computer architecture, and a thorough knowledge of the programming languages used.
• Assist in the definition of user requirements and in the development of functional specifications.
• Develop detailed level technical specifications and detail program specifications.
• Provide programming and technical design task estimates and contribute to project planning activities.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all common application development software in use by the organization.
• Play a team role in developing standards and programming techniques and ensure adherence by attending technical design reviews.
• Develop a thorough operational and functional understanding of assigned systems for maintenance purposes.
• Resolve any technical problems affecting production systems and implement production recoveries.
• A programmer/analyst is competent to work on all difficult phases of programming and design and many phases of complex systems design and programming.
