JOB SUMMARY

Business Developers are responsible for growth and retention of Synagro's municipal facility based business. This includes all facets of facility growth including developing and responding to traditional DBO-DBOO facility RFPs, siting new merchant/regional facilities, taking over or concession purchase of existing municipal facilities, expansion of scope of services at existing Synagro facilities, and development of small dryer systems. In addition developers would assist as necessary in the identification and acquisition of competitive facility assets where strategic. Currently Synagro offers composting, heat drying, incineration, digestion, THP and various green energy technologies in the facilities sector.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, develop and close facility based projects in biosolids management and related services.
  • Meet with clients and develop Synagro value propositions for customer
  • Influence procurement process and specifications to best position Synagro for success
  • Create strategic advantage for Synagro with potential facility based clients
  • Prepare RFP responses and client presentations
  • Serve as primary client interface during project development process
  • Conduct contract negotiations
  • Support finance department in securing project finance or other funding mechanism for facilities
  • Serve as internal project champion driving projects forward
  • Coordinating legal, engineering and finance disciplines to develop quality proposals
  • Interface with regulatory agencies to understand project permitting requirements
  • Interface with community representatives and politicians in project area as necessary


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to lead a project team and coordinate multiple disciplines
  • Strategic thinking ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand project financial drivers and proformas
  • Ability to understand technical details of Synagro's service offerings

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field-Engineering, Finance, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Business etc
  • 5+ years experience in Project or Business Development or less experience in Business Development coupled with a commiserate amount of experience in biosolids/residuals management, wastewater treatment or renewable energy fields
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Home Office
  • Travel Required including overnight as necessary
  • Applicants are expected to have a valid driver's license.
