As a member of Synagro's Engineering Group, this position will have a primary role, consisting of technical project development in support of Synagro's Business Development Group, with a focus on facility based solutions. Additionally, the role may be required to provide process engineering support to Synagro's existing facilities based projects. In the project development role, the position will provide direct project management, guidance and oversight of development teams in producing capital cost estimates and work products. In the process engineering role, the position will work with existing facility managers to support root cause/corrective action to events and project management of capital projects in support of facility optimization efforts. This position will work closely with the Business Development Group in preparing and reviewing solutions and proposals for new customers, packaging of new and existing equipment offerings, as well as enhancements to existing Synagro operations.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Provide conceptual engineering design, capital & operating cost estimates and permitting support during all phases of project development, whether internally driven, or in response to customer issued SOQ/RFQ/RFP, through to contract execution.
• Either as a new technology acquisition or M&A pursuit, will lead or support feasibility studies to evaluate opportunities to existing services/facilities from conceptual planning, design and costing (capital & O&M), culminating in documented cost-benefit analyses to provide basis for sound decision making.
• Technical resource in support of the Business Development Group in support of Facilities growth resulting from the Strategic Planning implementation.
• Develop and manage implementation and costing of capital improvement projects with and without external contractors.
• Monitor assigned projects their schedules, and budgets, in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
• Provide technical and commercial evaluation, recommendations and guidance to project teams in support of new project development opportunities, mergers & acquisitions, as well as existing operational improvements.
• Provide technical evaluations in the areas of material handling, solution packaging and technology feasibility.
• Support the preparation of proposals in response to customer specifications and technical information requests for engineering analysis, system studies, and other technical projects.
• Provide strategic planning input on development opportunities related to either customer driven, or Synagro initiated, opportunities.
• Provide input and review on Customer contracts during drafting and negotiation.
• Design review of third-party offerings to assure consistency and validity of opportunity.
• Assistance with start-up activities in support of performance testing and acceptance of project.
• Provide direct operational support to current facility operations to ensure efficient integration of new technologies into the current work scope and job duties.

Education/Experiences:
• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, with Mechanical or Chemical. A Professional Engineering License is highly desired.
• 10 experience in technical Project Management of industrial/manufacturing technologies, with biosolids experience a plus.
• Experience working with a public agency is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of materials handling, process systems, composting or thermal treatment.
• Field or operational experience with an understanding of procedures and field implementation strongly
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, material handling, and biological kinetics.
• Proven experience in leadership and team building.
• General computer proficiency. (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and Autocad).
• Strong communication skills, oral and written.

  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to biosolids
  • 25% - 50% travel required.

Salary Range: $150,000-$190,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
