Job description

This is a SYMITAR specialist role within Information Technology. You must have experience in SYMITAR administration and deployment. Please review the job description carefully.


PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Symitar Administrator ensures the seamless operation of the Symitar core banking system, supporting the financial institution's daily operations and strategic goals. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the system to maintain high availability and performance. The administrator also collaborates with various teams and third-party vendors to implement updates, patches, and new features, ensuring the system meets the evolving needs of the organization.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and administer Symitar core banking systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of software and hardware components.
  • Ensure system hardware and software availability, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades, patches, and enhancements to Symitar software and associated hardware.
  • Conduct testing and validation to ensure compatibility, functionality, and stability of system upgrades.
  • Plans, coordinates and executes annual failover testing between production and backup hosts including associated essential applications.
  • Perform regular data analysis, cleanup, and general housekeeping
  • Collaborates with other IT team members to identify and implement process improvements and system upgrades.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for troubleshooting procedures, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Respond to system incidents and service requests according to established procedures and service level agreements (SLAs). Document incident details, root cause analysis, and resolution steps for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Manage user accounts and profiles, including assisting with access issues and account maintenance.
  • Offers technical expertise to diagnose and resolve intricate issues related to Symitar systems and applications, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Champion seamless integrations between Symitar solutions and third-party applications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to achieve harmonious system interactions.
  • Provide phone and technical support to FPCU as a backup for the IT Service Desk.
  • Prepares audit responses pertaining to Symitar and leads any needed remediation efforts.
  • Manages and supports integration of 3rd party connections.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Recognized certifications and advanced degrees are a strong asset.
  • Proficient experience with the Symitar application platform, including maintenance, user administration, audit functions, and daily operational tasks.
  • In-depth knowledge of Symitar's core processing system, its multifaceted modules, and interconnected business applications.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling you to deconstruct complex challenges and devise elegant solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adeptly conveying intricate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Independent and collaborative, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Profound insights into credit union operations and financial industry dynamics provide a distinct advantage.
  • Experience SQL including writing complex queries, optimizing database performance, and managing relational data systems.
  • Skilled in administering IBM AIX environments, including system configuration, patching, and performance monitoring.
  • Proficient in supporting and maintaining the Synergy document management system, including user access, plug-ins, workflows, and issue resolution.
