Job description

The Consumer Platform team owns the mobile app foundation that makes Roblox feel fast, fluid, and reliable for millions of players and is dedicated to delivering superior performance, reliability, and user experience on all platforms Roblox runs on. This team ensures a seamless and engaging user interface that facilitates intuitive interactions, alongside maintaining high performance and reliability for efficient, glitch-free operations. Innovation is at the core of our work, as we continuously enhance features and integrate cutting-edge technologies to find novel solutions to problems. We're hiring an exceptional iOS engineer to help us push the bar even higher.

You will:

  • Shape & improve the iOS experience that millions of players open every day.
  • Lead architecture and implementation on a large, evolving Swift/Objective-C codebase, making decisions that hold up across years of product growth.
  • Push the platform forward by adopting the latest iOS, hardware, and iOS capabilities.
  • Partner deeply with product, design, and data science to materialize ideas.
  • Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical mentorship, and the standards you set in your own work.
  • (Principal) Set technical direction across multiple workstreams, drive multi-quarter initiatives that span teams, and act as a force multiplier for the broader iOS platform.
You have:
  • 5+ years of track record of leading the design and delivery of mobile features at scale.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Swift and Objective-C, with a real point of view on modern iOS architecture (Swift Concurrency, SwiftUI/UIKit interop, modularization).
  • Experience working in very large codebases with many contributors - you know how to ship safely, instrument well, and keep build times sane.
  • Strong product sense. You can tell the difference between an interaction that's correct and one that feels right, and you fight for the latter.
  • Excellent judgment under ambiguity, and a bias toward shipping over speculating.

Nice to have:

  • Cross-platform development with C++ and low-level hardware APIs.
  • Experience with rendering, graphics, or game-engine-adjacent systems.
  • Contributions to open source, conference talks, or technical writing in the iOS community.
  • Experience integrating on-device or server-side generative AI into consumer products.
