POSITION OVERVIEW: The Design Engineer, Product Integration will be responsible for the development of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical interface between the tractor and front loader for various tractor brands.  The development of new products is often done in close cooperation with the customer. This role will be managing several parallel projects and being responsible for the deliveries to those projects, from conception to completion, according to the project plan. Is responsible for building a contact network and will have the autonomy to plan, control and report ongoing and future tasks to accomplish this function.


This position reports to the Head of R&D-Product Integrations, Sweden. It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include, but are not limited to:

  • Design ow new product adaptation requested by marketing and sales and/or OEM-customer and in close cooperation with requester, following the customers' time plan.
  • Conducts field work performing 3D-scanning and measuring new tractors, prototype test fits and product audits often at or together with the customer. 
  • Product maintenance. 
  • Responsible for planning, controlling and reporting on all ongoing and future tasks.
  • Support JOST sales and support organization by updating the product configurator and support with cause of failure investigations within the area of reasonability. 
  • Perform successfully under time pressure with several parallel projects ongoing at the same. 
  • Any additional duties that have not been specifically stated, but which may be assigned and those that are logically and properly inherent to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equal education or experience, Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience in industrial design. Experience with welded sheet metal construction preferred.
  • General technical interest and practical hands-on skills are preferred.
  • Previous experience working in PLM preferred.
  • Knowledge of a tractor's mechanical, hydraulic and electronic structure is very merit.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Meticulous, structured and ability to independently make design related decisions.
  • Ability to forge positive working relationships within a team structure, both domestically and globally
  • High level knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA), preferably welded sheet metal construction 
  • Effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal organizational skills. 
  • High level of customer communication skills needed.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Courage to ask for assistance when additional knowledge will be required in order to meet deliveries.
  • Ability to work well under time pressures to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (approximately once weekly/monthly) in North America.
  • Ability to travel infrequently internationally. Valid passport required or the ability to obtain a valid passport.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility and/or dealer workshops.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, twist and occasionally will be required to stoop, kneel, lift, pull or move objects of 50 pounds or less with or without assistance.
