Job description

Want to be part of transforming road freight - for good? Einride is showing the world a new way to move, based on the latest digital, electric and autonomous technologies. Through freight capacity as a service, we enable businesses around the world to accelerate towards their sustainability goals.

Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy a cab-less autonomous electric vehicle on a public road (Sweden, 2019). In 2022, we were the first to successfully operate such a vehicle on a US public road. Today our award-winning technology has been launched across 8 countries (and counting). Our clients are some of the world’s biggest shippers, including Fortune 500 companies. We are also operating Sweden’s largest truck dedicated public charging network and counting.

This is a hands-on, in-office role as an IT Engineer at our office in Austin, TX, that keeps our US sites running and our engineering hardware healthy. You'll be part of the IT team (mostly based in Sweden, with one part-time person in the Austin office).

You will:
  • Provide setup, troubleshooting, systems administration, and support for engineers' Linux laptops and some linux servers
  • Provide Tier 2-3 assistance and escalation path for macOS and Windows user support
  • Evaluate new application requests from staff, potentially counter-offering new ways to use existing tools
  • Assist staff in using AI tools such as Claude and Gemini effectively (for example, helping less technical staff to with their "vibe coding" or prompt engineering)
  • Write custom integrations and automations between and within tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, and device management tools. (Experience with Terraform or GCP is a plus!)
  • Troubleshoot and support the onsite Meraki network in the Austin office, with help from the Sweden team, plus linux-based VPN.
  • Partner with the Sweden-based IT team across time zones, escalating and documenting as needed.
  • Write documentation, both for users and for IT department internal use
We expect you to (you don't need to tick all the boxes):
  • Bring solid Linux systems administration experience - including comfort on the command line, package management, SSH, permissions, log analysis, and basic scripting.
  • Be comfortable with basic coding (or eager to build on it) in languages like Python or Go.
  • Apply working knowledge of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi) alongside hands-on experience with Meraki or comparable managed gear.
  • Provide effective end-user support across a mixed OS environment.
  • Move seamlessly between deep technical work and routine hardware setup or everyday support tasks.
  • Explain technical concepts clearly in both spoken and written communication.
  • Thrive independently and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment where you'll frequently be the sole IT expert in the room.
  • Work out of our Austin office, travel up to 15% within the US, maintain a valid driver's license, and lift/move hardware as needed.

This is a full-time position based in Austin, TX. You will be part of a truly diverse, high performing team with a common passion for sustainability and making things happen in an innovative way.

At Einride, we are innovators, building solutions the world has never seen before - but urgently needs. That's why we take action, and it's why we are always eager to be challenged. We know that our best innovations come from having a diverse mix of people, including those of different experiences, career paths, and walks of life. By coming together and sharing our perspectives openly - by disagreeing, discussing, and committing - we deliver greater impact.

Please note: Our recruitment process includes an online candidate assessment via Alva Labs and a standard background check prior to employment.
