PRN: Cooper Clinic. We are currently seeking a Medical Technologist who will be responsible for performing routine chemical, hematologic and other general laboratory tests/procedures. The Medical Technologist draws blood, collects, processes and stores specimens.

Medical Technologist Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs phlebotomy, nasopharyngeal, nasal and throat swab specimen collections.
  • Performs lab testing (chemistries, hematology, urinalysis, and other) on patient samples using instruments or manual methods.
  • Ensures that tests are performed in compliance with department and regulatory policies and procedures while following quality assurance.
  • Adheres to all laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient flow, provides customer service, patient education and support to physicians and staff.
  • Operates and troubleshoot equipment/instruments as needed to ensure their proper functioning prior to test analysis and reporting test results.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory (supplies).
  • Performs calibration and correlation studies.
  • Follows departmental protocol for maintaining proper documentation.
  • Maintains continuing education and training.
  • Follows all clinic policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Completes duties on site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.
  • Administers injections
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned.

Requirements
The ideal Medical Technologist candidate will possess:
  • College graduate with a science degree, especially Medical Technology; or a graduate from an accredited Medical Technology program with a certificate in Medical Technology.
  • A minimum of 3 years' previous experience in a laboratory or medical setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to independently perform laboratory procedures, calibration and quality control checks with minimal supervision. Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Good computer skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and strive for professionalism.
  • Possess organizational skills with great attention to detail.
