Job description

The Senior Vice President & Chief Risk Officer provides strategic leadership on the Executive Management Team by advancing the Associationโ€™s enterprise risk management program. This role partners with the Board of Directors and executive leadership to strengthen the Associationโ€™s risk management, support sound business decisions, and foster a proactive, enterprise-wide risk-aware culture.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management principles, risk-related policies and procedures, and the ability to promote and sustain a risk-aware culture.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance principles and practices, credit concepts, applicable laws, banking regulations, and agricultural industry and economic principles.
  • Ability to identify key issues, evaluate complex business matters, and make sound business decisions using a systematic, information-based approach.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present information and communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and document information, write concise analytical reports, and prepare and present information for decision-making.
  • Skill in adapting to changing priorities, interacting effectively with others, and exercising sound judgment in a dynamic business environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to select, manage, coach, motivate, and develop teams while establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external organizations and individuals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in banking, finance, credit, or risk management, including at least six years in a leadership role.
  • Professional risk management certification from an accredited organization is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
