Quality Engineer Intern/Co-op

Mativ is a global leader in specialty materials headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Company offers a wide range of critical components and engineered solutions that connect, protect, and purify our world. The Quality Engineer Intern/Co-op will work under the supervision of the Quality Manager at our Plant in Minneapolis to ensure that product quality meets our customer and company specified requirements. The Quality Engineer Intern/Co-op will be responsible for final disposition of product which complies with specifications. Additionally, the Quality Engineer Intern/Co-op will verify the quality test results obtained by production staff, assist with development of manufacturing work instructions, final product testing processes, production validation methods, and product certification documents. The Quality Engineer Intern/Co-op will lead investigations into the root cause of assigned internal nonconformances and customer complaints.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Verify recorded machine start-up parameters against parameters documented in Standard Operating Conditions documentation.
  • Verify test data from 1st roll of each production batch.
  • Audit roll level production test results during production runs.
  • Monitor line start up process and product change process.
  • Work with plant personnel to resolve differences in test results.
  • Lead a technical team assigned to review and disposition internal nonconforming materials in a timely manner.
  • Under the direction of the Quality Manager, conduct investigations into the root cause of assigned customer complaints.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to eliminate root cause and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications:

  • Individual must be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Management or Quality Management.
  • Student will need to have completed a minimum of 1-full year of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2-full years.
  • Preference is a minimum 3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
  • Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • High initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
