Job description

Direct the Technical Services and Sustainability functions. Market segment collaboration aimed at expanding use of Vitro glass products, while enhancing Vitro's reputation as a leader in providing glazing technical solutions.Manages interpersonal relations and communications concerning sustainability between Vitro associates, sustainability consultants, stakeholders, and customers to further Vitro's sustainability position in the North American construction market.Impart critical technical information to architects and assume Vitro liability for glass performance specifications used in the design of buildings and all facets of the programs to support the growth of MSVD and Innovation products. Incumbent will certify that customers meet all requirements to remain as participants in Vitro Certified Network programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Technical Services and field support to key customers, glass fabricators and design architects, including product and application guidelines with increased emphasis on website and e-communication tools.
  • Develop and Maintain all Vitro Architectural Glass product warranties and support management of all product warranty claims and provide technical expertise to legal in defense of claims against Vitro.
  • Create measurable value by Advancing Vitro's capabilities to comply with regulation, legislation or national government level programs that creates new or expanded opportunities for Vitro's products, creates or maintains a competitive advantage for the company, or reduces costs.

  • Using technical knowledge of Vitro's customer base and the fenestration supply chain to provide input to legislation, standards, and regulations to advance the interests of the entire fenestration industry.

  • Oversees the Manager Sustainability in their effort to manage the internal programs employed to showcase Vitro sustainability compliance efforts.

  • Able to demonstrate glass performance to meet customer expectations for energy efficiency and aesthetics in the design of new buildings and renovation of existing buildings.

  • Direct the overall functions of the Technical Services and Sustainability groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years experience
  • at least 3 years of Glass Fabrication in the automotive or commercial construction area required
  • Ability to learn customer manufacturing processes

Supervision

Number of Direct Reports: 4

Number of Indirect Reports: 7

The Sustainability, Government Affairs & Technical Services Department is responsible for over 300 days/year of on-site participation at customer facilities, job-sites, legislator meetings and industry events. The remainder of time is work or home office based. Associates located near Pittsburgh are expected to work 3 days/week at the Vitro Glass Technology Center when not travelling.
