Job description

The Ned’s Club Washington DC boasts 3 restaurants each serving a unique style of cuisine from around the world. We will also host incredible events with customized menus for our guests. As our Sushi Line Cook you will prepare, plate, and serve high-quality sushi (maki, nigiri, sashimi) in a fast-paced environment, strictly adhering to food safety standards. You will be responsible for filleting fish, making sushi rice, creating sauces, maintaining station inventory, and ensuring consistent, aesthetically pleasing presentations during service. You will have the opportunity to amaze our members and guests by cooking in our Pan Asian restaurant.

After launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to have opened a Ned’s Club in the US capital in 2025, our fourth and newest location.

Ned’s Club Washington DC is a members’ club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President’s Park at 734 15th Street NW.
The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-story building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch.
The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces.
As part of our culinary team and reporting to the kitchen leadership team, you will:
Set up the sushi station with all necessary equipment and ingredients; prepares ingredients, including, washing, slicing, and preparing garnishes
Expertly cleans, skins, and fillets various fish, ensuring proper portion control
Assemble maki rolls, nigiri, and sashimi according to restaurant recipes and presentation standards
Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, following all health regulations and storing food properly at correct temperatures.
Execute orders quickly and accurately during high-volume service, coordinating with, and reporting to our Head Sushi Chef and Lead Line Cook
Monitor inventory levels of fresh fish and ingredients, notifying the chef when items need to be reordered
Keep our guests and customers well fed by preparing and serving our restaurant menus
Be able to read recipes and create dishes that look and taste amazing, always following Ned’s Club standards
Tackle any glitches or issues head on, prioritizing the guest experience every time
Deliver a seamless and smooth experience to every guest
Use equipment properly, we want you to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment
Support the next team of cooks by helping to prep for the next service
What you can bring to the role:
Previous experience in sushi restaurant and working on a sushi line in an operational kitchen
Any specialist knowledge of cooking techniques or cuisine types may be advantageous
Our kitchens can be high pressure so a calm demeanor and a genuine passion for providing guests with exceptional food is essential
A creative flair is always welcome, our menus change seasonally, and you may be offered the opportunity to assist your Head Chef in menu creation
