Job description

Amazon seeks an experienced Business Analyst to serve as a lead contributor on Category and Sales Finance team supporting the 3P business. You will generate insights that will guide 3P business growth opportunities across categories, sales teams and account management programs. Data analysis is at the core Amazon's culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our team. You will be gathering customer insights, mining data, making recommendations, and helping senior leaders make key business decisions. You will have the opportunity to work with a large and complex data warehouse to gather insights using data from across Amazon. These efforts will improve the ways in which we service our sellers and improve the business performance for The North America Seller Business and Programs (NASBP) business. The Business Analyst will also focus on streamlining finance reports, owning shadow P&Ls queries and perform ad-hoc business decision support analysis.
We are looking for someone with a broad technical background in data analytics, strong business acumen, who takes ownership of their work, and is focused on customer needs. The successful candidate will communicate crisply in non-technical terms to senior management. They will have an ability to make data-driven conclusions and will be comfortable with ambiguity while working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The candidate will also need to be a collaborator who can work with internal and external teams to define and implement solutions that will yield benefits to Amazon customers around the world.
Key job responsibilities
- Build reports and analysis utilizing advanced SQL skills.
- Automate planning, deep dive and reporting models.
- Understand the business challenges and identify data-driven business insights with effective presentation of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders.
- Leverage data to increase the efficiency of our programs working closely with the business teams to drive optimization.
- Update existing and create new metrics and reporting that help drive business conclusions, continually improving reporting and analysis processes.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to help determine key business conclusions.
- Support Category, New Seller Recruitment, and Account Management teams to deliver deep dives on key business metrics (Selection, Pricing, Promotions, Seller Fees, Cost to Serve, Inventory) and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Analyze Seller and ASIN-level data to identify trends, surface insights, and drive data-informed decisions in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
A day in the life
A typical day includes analyzing seller-level performance data to assess incentive program effectiveness, building benchmark cohorts to measure incrementality, and partnering directly with New Seller Recruitment and Account Management leaders to turn insights into action. You'll model input metrics that drive a specific cost (i.e. shipping costs), track incentive consumption, and prepare deep dives for leadership reviews. One day you're in ASIN-level economics; the next you're presenting a data based business case on whether a multi-million dollar program delivers value. You won't just crunch data and report numbers, you'll challenge what we measure and why.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience with Excel
- Experience with SQL
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering , analytics, mathematics, statistics or a related technical or quantitative field

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
