ORAL SURGICAL ASSISTANT – Full-Time

Atlanta Oral and Facial Surgery cultivate meaningful connections with our patients, referring dentists, and within our practice. Our thoughtful attention to detail and intentional effort to provide a tailored experience for every patient is a hallmark of our practice and help us establish truly personal relationships. A good assistant should be sincere, a combination of genuineness and caring; it expresses a desire to understand problems and address concerns. Is this a work environment for you? We are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient, and confident individual to join our family! We seek a full-time surgical assistant who will perform back-office duties, including preparing the patients, sterilizing instruments, and setting up the rooms. To do well in this role, you should have a dental x-ray certification and provide great patient care. This position would require you to follow the surgeon between the two locations. Must be a team member who exhibits a positive and enthusiastic personality, is focused on exceptional customer service, and genuinely connects personally with patients, staff, and referring offices. Recent graduates of surgical technology and dental assisting are welcome to apply.

Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Preparing patients for surgery and consultations.
  • Assisting the oral surgeon during procedures such as dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, and biopsy of the gingiva and bone.
  • Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with procedures.
  • Assisting in managing emergencies
  • Providing exceptional patient care.
  • Recording procedure notes, progress notes, and treatment information in patient records.
  • Preparing dental X-rays and caring for dental X-rays
  • Collect and record medical and dental histories and patient vital signs.
  • Maintaining IV Fluid flows during procedures.
  • Providing postoperative instructions as directed.
  • Caring for surgical/dental equipment.
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining dental equipment inventory.

Dental Assistant Requirements:

  • Dental assisting program, Surgical Technology, or equivalent.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Consistently professional appearance and attitude.
  • Able to provide great patient care.
