Part-Time Certified Surgical Technician / Sterile Processing Technician

Tenafly Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and reliable Part-Time Certified Surgical Technician who is also able to assist with sterile processing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will support the surgical team during procedures while also ensuring proper cleaning, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Assist surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff during procedures
  • Perform surgical counts according to policy
  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and trays
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment according to policy and manufacturer guidelines
  • Maintain accurate sterilization and biological testing logs
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, and aseptic technique standards
  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for cases
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the operating room and sterile processing area
  • Report equipment or supply issues promptly

Requirements:

  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred
  • Sterile processing experience required
  • Knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control, and aseptic technique
  • Previous ambulatory surgery center or operating room experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Flexible availability preferred
