Job description

Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technician assists with surgical procedures in scrubbing duties. Responsible for preparing for procedures and assisting operative team, including preparation and maintenance of sterile supplies. Housing available depending on availability (walking distance to hospital).

What You'll Do:

  1. Create and maintain a sterile field.
  2. Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening.
  3. Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins.
  4. Assures all equipment is functioning before use.
  5. Operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, and air powered equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Scrub all surgical procedures and understand the special needs, techniques, and requirements of the individual surgeon.
  7. Ability to scrub specialty surgeries without the presence of a sales representative including sports medicine and trauma.
  8. Assists RN with completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during procedure.
  9. Collects specimens and cultures by verifying source and correct tissue identification with surgeon.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • One year experience in operating room as a Surgical Technician or Surgical Technician training required.
  • Certification or eligible for certification preferred.
