Job description

Summary: The Traveling Finish Technician is a skilled craft professional responsible for performing finish-stage construction activities on tenant improvement, renovation, retail refresh, and light industrial projects throughout the United States. This is a travel-intensive role requiring deployment to project locations nationwide in support of Sevan's self-perform operations. Working under the direction of a Foreman and/or Superintendent, this role performs painting, drywall finishing, tile installation, finish trim work, punch list activities, and other closeout-related tasks that ensure projects are completed to Sevan's quality standards. The Finish Technician plays a critical role in final project appearance, quality assurance, and turnover readiness.
Travel Requirements:
  • Extensive nationwide travel is required.
  • Employees should expect to travel to project locations for extended periods based on business needs.
  • Company-paid lodging, travel accommodations, and applicable per diem are provided in accordance with company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform painting, coating, and finishing applications on walls, ceilings, doors, frames, cabinetry, millwork, and other building surfaces.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting and finishing, including cleaning, patching, sanding, masking, and protecting adjacent areas.
  • Perform drywall finishing activities, including taping, mudding, sanding, texture matching, and Level 4/5 finish work.
  • Perform layout, installation, grouting, sealing, and finishing of floor and wall tile systems.
  • Perform detailed finish carpentry, trim work, and finish touch-ups as required.
  • Complete punch list items and corrective work efficiently and accurately.
  • Identify and resolve finish-quality deficiencies prior to project turnover.
  • Support final inspections and project closeout activities.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Safely use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment as required.
  • Coordinate work activities with Foremen, Superintendents, other craft professionals, and trade partners.
  • Perform work with minimal supervision and maintain finish-quality standards throughout the final phases of construction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and all applicable regulations.
  • Travel to project locations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in commercial painting, drywall finishing, tile installation, interior finishes, or related construction trades preferred.
  • Experience with painting, coatings, drywall finishing, surface preparation, touch-up work, and punch list/closeout activities.
  • Experience installing floor and wall tile, including layout, cutting, setting, grouting, and finishing.
  • Knowledge of paints, coatings, sealants, adhesives, and related materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings, finish schedules, manufacturer specifications, and related construction documents.
  • Competent use of painting, drywall finishing, tile, and hand tools and equipment, including sprayers, rollers, brushes, and sanding equipment.
  • Experience working on commercial, retail, hospitality, industrial, tenant improvement, or renovation projects preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Pay & Benefits:
  • Pay range: $28- $38 per hour.

Work Conditions:
This is a travel-intensive, field-based role supporting projects nationwide. Extensive travel to work on-site at active construction locations for extended periods based on project needs. Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine. Involves movement between floors, and properties to facilitate work. Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
