Job description

IAT Insurance Group Surety Business Unit has openings for Surety Account Managers (Underwriting Support) in one of our following office locations:


Scottsdale, AZ
Naperville, IL

Norristown, PA

This role will provide overall day to day customer service and support to Underwriters, Agents, Principals. Acts as a liaison between the organization and clients, working closely with both entities to ensure needs are being met. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule. This role will be required to work from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.


Responsibilities:

  • Account creation for new principals, including OFAC checks and credit reports.
  • Process premium and entry of bonds, determining the ratings and class coding.
  • Process renewals, endorsements, and cancellations in line with bond forms and contract terms.
  • Maintain account principal and bond files; may request updates from Agents.
  • Audit Agent bond logs and follow up with agents resolving any gaps or problems.
  • Set up Status reports for bonds when applicable and follow up with agents or owners to ensure completion.
  • Generate and distribute monthly reports to Regional Managers and or Underwriters.
  • Research and respond to agents and internal billing team to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
  • Answers and processes internal information requests from a variety of internal functions (Legal, IT, licensing, RM's and other HO departments etc.).
  • Respond to client and company requests for action and information on any bond-related matter. Review and analyze issues in collaboration with Producers, and appropriate Support Department personnel. May be escalated to Ex. AM.
  • Call or email agents about unpaid bonds, Work with RM on over 90 reports and outstanding balances with agents.
  • Assist/advise underwriters of Ratings per state and bond type and rules and provide quotes to Agents (might be a higher-level admin function).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Must Have:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Equivalent education and experience would be 3+ years of experience in the insurance or finance industry
  • Basic Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of Underwriting support processes and procedures, basic mathematics and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong keyboarding skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills used for interaction with all levels of associates and/or external sources in a variety of settings
  • Strong PC skills required
  • Must be detail and action oriented
  • Must be an effective problem solver
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and deadline-driven production environment
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set and maintain priorities
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • To qualify, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require, now or in the future, VISA sponsorship for employment purposes

Preferred to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Surety Bond Underwriting support experience

Compensation:
Please note, if you live in Illinois, the typical hourly range for this role is $17.80 - $37.35. This range represents the anticipated low and high end for this position in that location. Actual hourly pay will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more.
