What you will do:

The Technical Services Manager is responsible for providing technical assistance in cement quality and process, concrete, concrete construction practices, to internal and external customers of GCC. Develops and maintains systems and processes to assure that all manufactured cement products meet customer specifications and expectations and achieve expected quality and reliability levels in a cost-effective manner. This role works closely with cement operations and logistics teams across the US and Mexico Divisions.

  • Promote the use of GCC of America products through active membership in professional organizations and societies.
  • Coordinate quality and performance dialogue between GCCA’s plants and the marketplace through regularly scheduled quality meetings.
  • Study and analyze significant trends in the performance of all competing cements in the marketplace and present those findings to GCCA Management
  • Serve as the intermediary between sales and production teams on plant quality matters.  
  • Present technical information to informed audiences on concrete mix designs, concrete characteristics and applications. Provides technical services to clients relating to the use of GCC products.
  • Stay current on new technology in the cement and concrete industry and be able to address changes in the marketplace.
  • Build relationships and maintain trust with customers.
  • Calls on specifying agencies such as engineers, architects, Department of Transportation personnel, or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial, and other establishments and attempt to convince prospective client(s) of desirability and practicability of products or services offered.
  • Maintain GCC products on the DOT pre-approved products list.
  • Proposes changes in processes, or use of materials and services which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations.
  • Provide technical training to employees of customers and to employees of GCC of America
  • Given the nature of this position, it is essential that the team member be present at the designated work site or office and ready to start work at the scheduled time.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager, Technical Services Engineer or Certified Concrete Expert in the building materials industries (cement, concrete, admixtures).

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Concrete Technology, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field, and/or a minimum of 10 years of experience in concrete and concrete products quality control.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional Engineer Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed:

  • Understanding of the cement, concrete, supplementary Cementous materials and chemical admixture industries.
  • Understanding of low CO2 alternatives and strategies to lower clinker factor in cements.
  • Understanding of blended cements and their uses and associated concrete applications in the precast and ready mix industries.
  • Understanding of ready mix / concrete operations required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and make formal presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical process control techniques.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computer and software packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize and to work independently

Annual Compensation: $160,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience) Position is eligible for company vehicle or car allowance
