PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing leadership within a team of Driver Managers to work cooperatively in order to exceed all required metrics for safe and efficient operation, maximize revenue and minimize costs, and meet or exceed the customer's service needs. This position will provide leadership to Driver Team Members and other Driver Managers, by modeling USA Truck's core values.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Coach Driver Managers to understand fleet operational costs, network needs, and balances.

  • Develop efficient plans to drive long term performance and develop a winning environment for all team members.

  • Perform daily functions of Driver Manager role for a group of Driver Team members.

  • Monitor, coach and counsel Driver managers in proper Safety practices and compliance, to successfully achieve company standards and metrics.

  • Direct assigned Driver Team Members to operate in a safe and compliant manner at all times, in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.

  • Fill in and assist with Regional Manager duties as required.

  • Recommend measures to improve procedures, performance, and quality of services.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist employees in solving work problems.

  • Mentor Driver Managers on how to build strong relationships with each Driver in order to promote driver retention.

  • Lead your team to achieve company accident goals and safety compliance.

  • Monitor utilization, maintenance goals, and layover trucks.

  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure a successful operation.

  • Prepare and present training necessary for team members to achieve desired results.

  • Model and teach effective communication to our internal and external customers.

  • Collaborate with Fuel Management Team to maximize fleet fueling and idle time efficiencies.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of 2 years fleet operations experience

  • Experience in an management role

  • Strong general knowledge of DOT regulations

  • General knowledge of freight management including pricing, planning, and customer service.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to develop team members through effective coaching skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration laterally, upward, and downward

  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience
