Job Title: Application Support Engineer (Java/Middleware)

Location: Mendota Heights MN

Duration: 18 months


Description:

  • In this role you will provide high level technical systems support, systems administration, and act as an escalation point where duties are varied.
  • This position primarily supports the application suite for Shareowner Services.
  • The selected candidate will support highly complex technical issues and initiatives related to large-scale applications, systems, databases and/or technical products and services in a Windows/SQL and Java/Linux environment. This candidate will act as an internal consultant regarding use of tools and process re-engineering to improve delivery, support and governance process execution. Assess changes for risk to production systems and assures quality, security, and compliance requirements are met for supported areas and create change/issue logs as well as analyze performance trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform migrations from lower environments to production, lead upgrades, installations, and configurations.
  • Evaluate or review queries to extract data, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supported.
  • Update and or author documentation and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot network, hardware, and software issues while coordinating resolution with users, vendors and internal service groups.
  • May coordinate project resources and provide guidance to less experienced analysts.
  • Coordination and relationship building with Technical and Business partners.
  • May also perform some leadership initiatives in support of the team mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years application/production support experience
  • Infrastructure build Experience
  • 5+ yrs. Application administration or production support in a Tomcat, WebLogic, Oracle Environment
  • Effective change management experience
  • Multi-tiered application support
  • Experience with owning and driving technical initiatives

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with owning and driving technical initiatives
  • 5+ yrs. Application administration or production support in a Windows/SQL environment
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Business process improvement experience

Additional Details:

  • This candidate will provide technical systems support within a technology organization for a multi-tiered application suite.
  • Provide support for complex technical issues and initiatives related to assigned applications, systems, databases and/or other technical products and services.
  • Uses diagnostic tools to maintain, troubleshoot and restore service or data to systems.
  • Evaluate service level agreement criteria and identifies gaps in current technology process.
  • Participate in migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and/or configurations.
  • Write SQL queries to extract data.
  • Update documentation and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots network, hardware and software issues using general guidelines, templates or direction from others.
  • Analyzes performance trends and recommends process improvements.
