Job description

Yaskawa is currently seeking a Sales Support Engineer to join the team in Yaskawa Canada in Calgary, Alberta. This role will provide technical support and guidance to the outside sales force to assist in capturing new business. This includes the specification, selection and prices of drives and control panels. This role will also monitor and collaborate with the Calgary team, Demand Planning, Supply Chain Management and Engineering.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures operational effectiveness with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while efficiently delivering products, projects, and services and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Monitors customer orders and proactively collaborates with the Calgary team to ensure orders are placed in time to meet customer deadlines.
  • Identifies and resolves issues that may impact overall customer satisfaction.
  • Communicates effectively with customers through various channels, including written correspondence and weekly reports.
  • Creates electrical schematics and layout drawings for complete products using AutoCAD Electrical in 2D and 3D. Experience with SolidWorks is considered an asset.
  • Evaluates and reviews customers' electrical single-line diagrams and provides technical recommendations and guidance.
  • Implements, quotes, and designs high-horsepower control panels ranging from 400 V to 600 V and 400 HP to 2,250 HP, including 1P to 5P Yaskawa HHP modules for Calgary and YAI customers.
  • Sizes and selects components for various VFD control panels, including pump jack, ESP pump, PC pump, and standard applications. This includes sizing cables and enclosures.
  • Ensures designs comply with applicable CSA and UL requirements.
  • Prepares proposals for customer RFQs involving various control panels; creates bills of materials, production orders, and sales orders using SAP.
  • Controls and tracks revisions to engineering documentation.
  • Controls and updates bills of materials (BOMs) when new part numbers are created.
  • Participates in technical and sales training programs offered by Yaskawa.
  • Provides inside sales support through SAP, including creating sales orders, purchase orders, credits, debits, quotations, and pro forma invoices, while providing backup support to the CSR as required.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Implements process improvements, assist supervisor in developing and revising current work instructions.

The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering degree. Along with AutoCad Electrical experience; while Solidworks experience is not a requirement it would be a big plus! The ideal candidate will also have experience with ERP systems with SAP being preferred.
