Drive performance improvement across commodity trading and downstream value chains. As a Commodity Trading & Value Chain Optimization Consultant, you will help clients identify operational, commercial, and risk-related opportunities across trading, logistics, and adjacent functions. This role is designed for candidates with experience in commodity trading, downstream operations, or performance improvement who want to deliver measurable business value.

Work you'll do

As a Commodity Trading & Value Chain Optimization Consultant on the Enterprise Operations & Risk team, you will be responsible for:

  • Support analysis across commodity trading and downstream operations to identify process, data, and control improvement opportunities
  • Support value chain optimization initiatives for commodity trading organizations across oil and gas, power and utilities, agriculture, and adjacent sectors
  • Analyze commercial and operational data to quantify value and support recommendations that improve margin and business performance
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders and Deloitte teams to align workstreams, deliverables, and timelines
  • Develop analyses, presentations, and other materials that support engagement delivery and business development

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Operations
  • 2+ years of experience in commodity trading, downstream operations, supply chain, performance improvement, or consulting
  • Experience supporting one or more downstream oil and gas functions, including refining, shipping, storage, marketing, or commodity trading operations
  • Experience analyzing commercial or operational data to identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Experience creating presentations, analyses, or financial models for business or client stakeholders
  • Ability to travel 75%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience with commodity trade lifecycle processes including deal capture, scheduling, pricing, or settlements
  • Experience supporting value chain optimization or margin improvement initiatives
  • Experience with commodity trading and risk management platforms such as ION Endur, Allegro, RightAngle, Eka, TriplePoint, or SAP Commodity Management
  • Experience in one or more commodity markets, including power, natural gas, crude oil, refined products, liquefied natural gas, metals, or agriculture
  • Experience using analytics, automation, or artificial intelligence in commercial or operational environments
  • Experience working in a consulting or advisory environment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $86,700 to $170,900.
