Job description

TITLE: Director, Supply Chain Accounting
Client X is one of the fastest growing biotechnology companies and at the forefront of delivering sustainable solutions that are better for people and the planet. We create, manufacture, and commercialize ingredients and consumer products that reach more than 300 million consumers. We market a family of consumer products in Beauty, Personal Care, Health and Wellness. These products are manufactured at Client X facilities in North and South America as well as by a global network of contract manufacturing partners.
As the Director of Supply Chain Accounting, you will provide overall leadership to a high performing team of plant controllers and cost accountants. This team is responsible for ensuring effective internal controls and US GAAP reporting compliance for supply chain related expenditures, inventory valuations, and fixed assets. As the team leader and a member of finance leadership, you will collaborate with partners in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Process Development, and other functions while contributing towards optimization of the Client X supply chain network and manufacturing assets.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead supply chain, cost accounting, and plant controlling organization for North America operations.
  • Provide overall guidance and technical expertise related to accounting policies for inventory values, supply chain costs, gross margin determinations, fixed assets, and related topics across scope of Client X global manufacturing network, thereby ensuring compliance with US GAAP reporting and SOX control requirements.
  • Ensure effective management of monthly close and account reconciliation processes, including review of purchase price variance, material use variance, and moving average product costs.
  • Provide leadership for inventory reconciliation processes, including cycle counts and book to stock adjustments, as well as Lower of Cost or Market calculations and related entries.
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and process development organizations to ensure Bill of Material and COGS accuracy while driving optimization of the supply chain network.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing facility expenditures as well as freight and logistic expenses.
  • Ensure process integrity and reporting compliance while identifying opportunities for process simplification and automation.
  • Manage and implement cross-functional projects as business circumstances dictate.
  • Recruit, develop, manage, and retain a high-performing team of finance professionals.
  • Ensure sound maintenance of internal controls across scope of responsibilities.
  • Lead with integrity, and promote a collaborative, transparent, and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Up to 10% travel overall, with higher proportion of travel likely during year end close and related activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial or relevant business disciplines with significant experience in cost accounting and plant controlling within a CPG and/or ingredients/specialty chemicals manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 4 years of people leadership experience.
  • Significant systems experience with the SAP and NetSuite ERP systems.
  • Excellent Excel capabilities (including pivot table, VLOOKUP, and related functionality)
  • High attention to detail
  • Capability to synthesize complex concepts and package related communications appropriately for various audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Demonstrated experience driving quantified improvements in manufacturing and / or supply chain costs.
