Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Plumbing Return Repair Specialist handles plumbing repairs that require follow-up visits due to the need for special-order parts, complex diagnostics, or extended labor time. This position requires expertise in troubleshooting and repairing various plumbing systems, including water heaters, fixtures, piping, and valves. The specialist must be proficient in identifying leaks, performing precise repairs, and maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship. In this role, the specialist must take pride in their appearance, work well under pressure, be a great communicator, and go above and beyond to assist customers in maintaining functional plumbing systems with friendly customer support, dependability, and integrity.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
• Report to customers’ homes on time and arrive with a general understanding of the work to be completed.
• Communicate clearly with customers about plumbing systems, usage, maintenance tips, and damage prevention techniques.
• Offer options for additional services that may benefit the customer.
• Perform follow-up repairs, including the replacement or installation of plumbing fixtures, pipes, valves, or water heaters.
• Accurately locate and repair leaks or blockages in residential plumbing systems.
• Safely and properly use plumbing tools and equipment including pipe cutters, wrenches, soldering equipment, augers, inspection cameras, and leak detection devices.
• Determine service requirements using technical skills, plumbing knowledge, and previous maintenance or repair experience.
• Complete all tasks with safety as a priority for both personal and job site conditions.
• Document all completed work in detail on work orders.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with residential plumbing systems.
• Desire and ability to mentor trainees and apprentices.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents, diagrams, and instructions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient knowledge of tools, techniques, and equipment used in plumbing repairs and installations.
• Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to clearly explain technical issues to customers.
• Working knowledge of relevant technology and software tools, including mobile applications used for job documentation, timekeeping, and customer billing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees will be exposed to extreme indoor and/or outdoor weather conditions, tight spaces such as crawl spaces and attics, and varying noise levels depending on job location and equipment used.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use both hands with multi-directional arm extension, operate light-duty company vehicles, bend, crawl, sit, twist, stand, squat, move about, hear, and speak. May be required to work in restricted spaces under difficult access conditions and lighting. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. using proper safety procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and the ability to always operate equipment safely. Employee must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on duty.
OTHER MATTERS:
• This is a full-time position. Hours vary Monday through Saturday, 7 am. to completion of the daily work.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• No overnight out-of-town travel is expected for this position.
• Ability to work in a team-based setting, sharing workload and information with other members of the team to ensure customers are satisfied with the service rendered.
