Job description

John T. Jones Construction Co. is seeking a driven underground foreman for it's underground utility division in the upper midwest.


General Duties:

  • Run a 2- 4 man crew installing various underground piping and manhole structures.
  • Proficient in operating excavator
  • Deep excavation experience - capable of digging engineered excavations
  • Coordinates and supervises daily activities, keeping quality and production.
  • Understand project plans and specifications and review with Superintendent to plan sequencing and schedule for pipe installation.
  • Understand, communicate and enforce John T. Jones safety policies and procedures.
  • Track and report quantities of all work performed daily.
  • Utilizes heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill ductile and various other pipe.
  • Continually inspects work site to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Daily equipment inspections to detect equipment deficiencies, hazards, or needs.
  • Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • The Pipe Foreman must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Other tasks as assigned by Superintendent

Requirements: 5+ Years experience in site pipe installation, particularly ductile iron & PVC.

  • 2+ Years supervisory/foreman experience
  • Operate heavy equipment including: excavator, loader, backhoe, packer etc.
  • A good understanding of trenching/excavation safety
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Stand, kneel, walk, lift, bend, stoop, push and pull
  • Travel within the upper midwest
