Job description

SUPERINTENDENT

The Superintendent plans and ensures the coordination of construction projects. They ensure that the quality of work and materials is upheld and that the budget is followed as planned. They are entitled with the total supervision of all the operations on the site. They ensure that the workers are implementing what is on the design plan. They monitor the workers progress of the project. They are also responsible for managing the project schedule, overall site safety, and enforcement of safety practices with all job site workers.

The Superintendent reports to the General Superintendent. This position is Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
  • Read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedule.
  • Enforce site safety policies and administer weekly safety meetings.
  • Schedule and attend inspections.
  • Generate daily reports for site activities.
  • Maintain positive relationship with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other employees.
  • Supervise punch list.
  • Responsible for overall quality.
  • Participate in construction meetings.
  • Maintain site cleanliness.
  • Ability to manage large scale, complex projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple medium to large size projects.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a supervisory role on commercial projects.

Superintendent OSHPD Projects

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory role on OSHPD projects.

Superintendent Pharmaceutical Projects

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory role on pharmaceutical projects

Candidate Profile

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to examine issues from multiple viewpoints.
  • Takes ownership of circumstances (i.e. takes responsibility of success as well as shortcomings, effectively problem-solves towards improvement).
  • Responsive to emails, phone calls, texts, etc. within appropriate timeframe (i.e. acknowledges and gives updates to all requests immediately).

Physical Demands: Performance of the duties will occasionally require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
