Job description

SunMED Medical is looking for someone with experience in medical/DME billing, coding, or insurance verification to join our team as a full-time remote customer care specialist for DME.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize our order processing system, Brightree, to input referral information and manage orders up until the point of billing.
  • Reach out to providers to request return of fully completed or required but missing clinical documentation, necessary to process an order according to the department/insurance payor's guidelines.
  • Share your knowledge of Lymphedema products with customers.
  • Advise the patients and referral sources of the patient's insurance coverage, advising of any out-of-pocket expenses that would be incurred to process the order.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, referral sources as well as our business partners.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, therapists and other health care professionals.
  • Maintain a relationship with referral sources.
  • Create purchase orders and send to manufacturers via fax/email/or manufacturer websites.

Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience, telephonic or face-to-face.
  • Brightree experience is preferred.
  • Previous compression experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity of medical terminology.
  • Comfortable with discussing insurance coverage and financial responsibility with patients.
  • Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Adaptability to new processes and technology.
  • Excellent time management skills, organization, and with strong attention to detail
  • Superior/excellent computer skills using remote access and a computer network, which includes thorough knowledge of Outlook, Teams, and more than a basic familiarity with Excel.
