The Arc Gloucester's Camp Sun 'N Fun is currently looking for Seasonal Lifeguards! $16/hour

We have made a difference in the lives of many people and are very proud of that. But it's the individuals we service who bring our programs to life with their creativity, excitement, humor, talent, and so much more!

Summary: The position of Camp's Lifeguards ensures the safety of our campers during pool activities. The lifeguards provide supervision to all staff and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by The Arc Gloucester / Camp Sun โ€˜N Fun and helps these individuals reach their fullest potential.

Typical hours are Monday - Thursday, 1pm - 4pm.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lifeguard shall be responsible to the Camp Director
  • Willing to follow all Camp policies and regulations.
  • Lifeguards must be at least 18 years of age and hold the proper certification
  • Show good judgment and a sense of responsibility.
  • Perform duties designated by the Camp Director in order to provide programs of instruction, recreation and safety. Schedules set by the Camp Director must be followed in a timely, professional manner.
  • Lifeguards must be willing to do additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • All pool staff must demonstrate the willingness to work as a member of a team and is expected to contribute in achievement of the objectives of the Cam
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Comply with the DDD Program Manual, The Arc Gloucesterโ€™s and Camp Sun โ€˜N Funโ€™s Policies and Procedures Manual and applicable state, local and federal regulations.
  • Must cooperate and participate in reviews, investigations, and inspections, including but not limited to the Agency, American Camp Association (ACA), DHS Licensing and DHS staff.
  • Complete initial and ongoing required training
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must possess a high school diploma/GED
  • At least one (1) year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Maintain active CPR/First Aide certification
  • Maintain current Red Cross lifeguard certification
  • Successfully pass initial and ongoing State/Federal Criminal Background checks, including Fingerprinting, CARI checks, Central Registry checks and drug screens

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the following are required with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk, swim for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate a computer, phone, and other relevant technology
  • Talk, hear and communicate in person, over the phone and using other technologies
  • Physical duties, including but not limited to carrying, driving, general lifting (at least 50 lbs.), assisting with transferring and lifting of individuals, pushing and pulling (resistance of at least 25 lbs.), bending, cleaning, and climbing stairs
