Our mission is to help our residents live Happy, Healthy, Enhanced and Fulfilling Lives.  We are looking to add members to our (DSP) Direct Support Professionals Team, who will be motivated and enthusiastic about providing support services that create both a sense of HOME, in our residentially-based settings and Community Membership, through interfacing with local venues and neighborhood activities.  You will have opportunities to engage with our residents in 1-on-1 Relationship Building Interactions, as well as, Organize and Support Small Group Activities, which encourage and develop essential Socialization Life Skills.  As we provide services that are designed to meet the needs of the Whole Person, support activities will include, but are not limited to,  assistance with Adaptive Living Skills, Social Skill Development, Mental and Physical Health and Well-being,  Supportive Medication Self-Administration, Personal Care, Vocational/Volunteer Training, Supported Routines and Healthy Behavioral Development. 


We are looking for a Candidate who demonstrates Leadership, Confidence, Initiative, Team Dynamics, Creativity and most importantly a Fun Spirit!


All new employees, regardless of  experience, will participate in an Orientation Process, which will be a 40 hour introduction to our Agency, Team Members and Residents.  This Orientation will include guidance on the Agency's Legacy Philosophy,  Policies and Protocols, and Training on individual learning objectives as specified by the Individual Program Plan (IPP).  Once the Orientation is completed all new employees will be placed on an "Onboarding Schedule"  which may include varying shifts and days, until  a more permanent fit is established.    Direct Support Professionals will be under the immediate supervision of the Residential Administrator of the home where they are assigned .  


Other Duties include:


  • Implement Individual Support Plans and Behavior Management Goals. 
  • Maintain Daily & Monthly Documentation Records regarding Resident’s Progress.
  • Participate in Resident’s Assessment Planning and Evaluation Processes.
  • Fulfilling Mandated Reporting Requirements, such as, Incident Reports, Suspicions of Abuse and Grievance Procedures. 
  • Ensuring that Resident’s Personal Rights are Respected and Maintained.
  • Attendance at all Monthly Staff Meetings and Ins-Service Trainings.
  • Health Maintenance--Provides care and assistance to promote good health; helps residents receive medical care  and communicates with medical professionals; provides First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care when needed
  • Operational Support--Maintains cleanliness of residence, may drive company vehicle, use public transportation,  special transport agencies or private automobile to transport residents to their activities or appointments.
  • Completes tasks that are beyond the resident’s abilities; 
  • Follows policies and procedures for handling money related to resident’s and residence activities.
  • Professional Behavior--Acts in a professional manner and communicates effectively with others (this includes but is not  limited to co-workers, Administrator, Office Personnel, Regional Center representatives, resident’s guests, community members,  etc.).
  • Follows all procedures regarding the recording and submission of the documentation of all approved time worked at each assigned residence; documentation is submitted to Residential Administrator one day after the close of each pay period.
  • Participate in staff orientation thru service as a “trainer” (i.e. be the person that a new staff person shadows along with during initial orientation period).


Daily Responsibilities:


  • Provide direct supervision in resident-based and community-based activities.  Supervision may include assisting individuals in completing primary self-care tasks such as eating, personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, bathing and toileting; assists consumers with their mobility 
  • Daily responsibilities will include directing/assisting individuals to perform Adaptive Living Skills training activities, such as, daily household chores, cooking, money management, household shopping, doing laundry and recording progress on skill development and achievement
  • Assist in the administration of prescribed medication according to physician instructions.  Accurately documents such assistance on daily medication sheets and in any additional medication logs.  Records information regarding health events, conditions, and status.
