About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Strategic Account Director is a high-impact, field-based sales leader responsible for driving referral growth, market penetration, and sustained revenue performance for Summit BHC. This role serves as the primary commercial representative of the organization, building and expanding relationships with key referral sources while strengthening Summit's brand presence across local, regional, and national markets. Through disciplined account management, strategic outreach, and in-person engagement, the Strategic Account Director actively generates demand, increases admissions, and positions Summit BHC as a provider of choice in a highly competitive behavioral health landscape. This role requires a strong balance of strategic sales planning and hands-on execution in the field.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a top-tier sales expert on Summit BHC's clinical programs and value proposition, effectively differentiating services in a competitive marketplace.
  • Own and manage a high-value pipeline of referral relationships, including physicians, licensed clinicians, EAPs, unions, professional associations, and tribal organizations, with a focus on consistent prospecting, engagement, and conversion.
  • Partner with the VP of Business Development to design and execute data-driven sales strategies that increase referrals, admissions volume, and market share across assigned territories.
  • Execute a structured face-to-face sales cadence, maintaining high levels of in-person visits, relationship development, and referral generation activity.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time CRM documentation of all sales activity, pipeline movement, and referral outcomes to ensure accountability and performance tracking.
  • Identify new business opportunities through market analysis, competitive intelligence, and strategic prospecting, converting prospects into active referral sources.
  • Develop and execute annual and quarterly sales plans with defined revenue targets, activity metrics, and conversion goals.
  • Drive new account acquisition while expanding share-of-wallet within existing referral relationships through consultative selling and consistent follow-up.
  • Lead community-based sales initiatives including workshops, educational events, and seminars designed to generate leads and strengthen referral networks.
  • Represent Summit BHC at professional, civic, and industry events to build brand visibility and accelerate business development opportunities.
  • Act as a key commercial liaison between referral sources, facilities, and internal teams to ensure seamless coordination and strong customer experience.
  • Translate business development strategy into aggressive field execution, maintaining focus on measurable outcomes and revenue impact.
  • Consistently meet or exceed established targets for referral activity, conversion rates, and admissions performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Admissions to optimize lead conversion, reduce friction in the referral process, and improve overall admissions efficiency.
  • Build and sustain a strong, territory-wide network of referral partners to support long-term pipeline growth and revenue stability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Behavioral Health, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Three or more years' experience in a health care business development/marketing environment, preferably in the addiction and/or mental health treatment field.
  • Good understanding of the local market and referral base.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatments.
  • Organized and demonstrates the ability to multitask and have well-developed and effective relational skills.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

This position is a remote position.
