Job description

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is currently looking to hire a Temporary Teacher/Teacher Assistant to work in the Summer in the Miccosukee Employment and Training.

Job Eligibility

The Employment and Training Department Temporary Teacher should hold an Associate of Arts degree and have experience working with adolescents and young adults. The start date will be in June, two weeks before the program starts, and will last through August.

This position requires an interest in assisting youth and a general knowledge of youth academic and employment activities. The program includes Everglades conservation/ project activities and science workshops. One must have the ability to work with younger individuals and provide a positive influence; the ability to exercise sound professional judgement at all times; and the ability to adapt and adjust many different personalities and situations.

This position involves responsibility for supervising all participants during classroom hours, employment activities, and outdoor field trips in the Everglades. The teachers will work under the supervision of the Director of the Employment and Training Department and the Lead Instructor.

They will be assigned a certain number of participants for individual supervision and services as follows:

· Assist students with academic, soft skills, and financial skills training

· Ensure that participants adhere to all program guidelines and regulations

· Verify that participants’ have fulfilled ALL program requirements; participate in all activities and functions.

· Attend Summer Youth Program field trips as needed. Please notice most workshops and field trips will be outdoor.

· Act as a role model for participants at ALL times.

· Be responsible for participant’s safety and welfare at ALL times.

Salary: $17.00 per hour (35 hours a week)/ Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00pm

Job Site: 20 Miles West of Krome Avenue on SW 8th Street on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation
