Job description

Schedule/Hours:  Monday - Friday (8 hours work day).  Hourly rate:  $14.00 p/h - $18.00 p/h (depends on experience)

  This position is responsible for:  

Plans and provides activities and childcare services for children participating in the Summer Day Camp Program; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Corps property.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.

Facilitates activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.

Determines appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.

Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.

Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.

Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.

Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.

Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials necessary for programs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
