Job description

Wake County Public Libraries is looking for two Temporary Outreach Librarians  
to join our Library on the Go team!
 

Join Wake County Public Libraries as a Temporary Outreach Librarian with the Library on the Go team, where you'll help bring the library experience directly into the community. From delivering captivating storytimes on our new Bookmobile to connecting seniors with resources through our Book Hauler, you'll create unforgettable experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning. Your role will be essential in connecting people of all ages with the library's resources, fostering relationships, and expanding our reach to underserved areas. 

Key Responsibilities of an Outreach Librarian 

Create Engaging Programs: Unleash your creativity by designing and implementing dynamic programs for the outreach services. Create these experiences to spark curiosity and joy in both children and adults.  

Develop Relevant Collections:Lead collection development for outreach by selecting materials that resonate with diverse readers. Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure materials are effectively managed, accessible, and aligned with community needs. 

Drive and Maintain the Bookmobile and Book Hauler: Drive the Bookmobile and/or Book Hauler with confidence and professionalism. Take pride in maintaining the vehicles and the equipment. When needed, address maintenance issues promptly or report them for resolution. Valid NC driver's license is required. 

Build a Strong Community: Work with the Program Manager to establish and nurture strong relationships with local organizations. Promote library services and forge relationships that enhance our programs and services. Work directly with the public, providing excellent customer service and readers advisory services. 

Collaborate with Passion: Join forces with a dedicated team to brainstorm, plan, and execute projects. Work closely with Librarians and Library Assistants to assist in the delivery of outreach services and programs. Contribute your unique strengths while fostering an environment of support, innovation, and shared success. 

Schedule 
18 hours a week, Monday-Friday. Hours may change due to the scheduling of events, including occasional nights and weekends.
