Position Description Job Title: Tennis CoachFLSA Status: Non-ExemptOverview: The Tennis Coach is the lifeline and most visible member of all tennis operations at the club. This individual will engage members and guests and foster a love of tennis as we strive to be the industry gold standard for tennis coaching and development. The Tennis Coach will be nimble and adaptable to the changing landscape of the industry and will thrive in a people environment, bringing an energetic and inspiring contribution to the club's tennis programs. Position Responsibilities: • Increase visibility of tennis offerings within the club and the community. • Engage additional members to join additional programs. • Share in the maintenance of tennis areas to promote an exceptional facility experience. • Provide adult, junior, private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons for beginner through advanced level players. • Evaluate student progress and teaching tennis techniques. • Ensure that the court equipment – balls, carts, racquets, teaching aids and nets – are always in good condition and properly located for all the programs. • Assist in the promotion and organization of adult summer and holiday camps, adult socials, tournaments, match play events, USTA/UTR/WTN leagues and any special events. • Assist the Tennis Director and Junior Development Coordinator's in the implementation of all curriculum and methodologies. The Tennis Coach plays a vital part in the campaign to align the attitudes of fellow pros, parents, and children (example: the use modified courts and equipment). • Assist in the approval process of all junior players who are accepted/placed and promoted in each level. • Assist as needed in the organization and promotion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly junior tennis development activities including junior match play events, JTT, UTR, WTN and USTA tournaments. Promote the current USTA Net Generation Competitive Pathway and support the ADM (American Development Model). • Ensure that player reviews are completed on a timely basis. • Attend coach meetings held by the Racquet Sports Manager/Director of Operations, Junior Development Coordinator or Adult Development Coordinator. • Complete assigned weekly audits and self-assessments. • Be available to complete all Tennis Coach On Duty assignments. • Complete other assignments deemed appropriate by the Racquet Sports Manager/Director of Operations, Junior Development Coordinator or Adult Development Coordinator. Qualifications and Experience: • Adaptable to an evolving, demanding, and flexible work schedule and environment. • Player level is recommended to be at the demonstration and/or comprehension level of 4.5 NTRP and above. College-level playing ability certainly a plus. • USTA Safe Play AND USPTA or PTR certification is required (or acquired within 6 months of employment). • 3 or more years of tennis coaching experience in a high revenue racquets facility. NOTE that we also welcome new and developing coaches who possess the right outlook and attitude to personal growth and care. • Coaching experience including adults, teams, and junior development. Working Conditions: • Must be able to lift >25lbs; carry tennis equipment as needed • Ability to move around the tennis court as needed, to perform required coaching movements • Ability to stand for extended periods of time up to 8+hrs • The Tennis Coach position is or can become a full-time opportunity and does not offer a remote work possibility. • While a 7-day work week is not expected, the Tennis Coach understands that the position will require coverage and work on holidays and days off from time to time.
